Description

Please join us for a very special evening with author/illustrator Vesper Stamper as we celebrate her new book and explore her previous titles through art. Vesper will bring some of the original art from her canon of books and discuss the process in each one, including her first book, What the Night Sings**, that was long-listed for the National Book Award.

We will discuss her newest book, Three Pieces of Broken Glass, in which Grandma Inge tells her great-granddaughter about the memories held in shards of glass that serve as reminders of her past as a Jewish refugee.

Vesper Stamper is the author and illustrator of several books. Her illustrated picture books include The Greatest (September 2024), The Most Clever Girl: How Jane Austen Discovered Her Voice, and Amazing Abe: How Abraham Cahan's Newspaper Gave a Voice to Jewish Immigrants. Her YA debut, What the Night Sings was a National Book Award Nominee, a National Jewish Book Award Finalist, and a Morris Award Finalist. Vesper has a BFA in Illustration from Parsons and an MFA in Illustration as Visual Essay from School of Visual Arts. She teaches illustration at School of Visual Art.

A fun and memorable evening, please register to save a spot.

**Also won these honors: William C. Morris YA Debut Award | Finalist | Young Adult Literature | 2019 ; Sydney Taylor Book Award | Winner | Teen | 2019 ; Golden Kite | Honor Book | Young Adult Fiction | 2019
